Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church

Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church

Collect open: 24 May 2023

On the church calendar, May 22 is the day of the transfer of the relics of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. Bishop Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the most revered saints for believers. He is honored twice a year in the Orthodox Church - on December 19 and May 22. The May holiday is called Spring Nicholas or Summer Nicholas.

On this day, a divine liturgy was held for the local believers in the St. Nicholas Church (Deimanivka village, Pyriatyn District, Poltava Region).
Father Mykola Tsiko, a deacon of the Pyriatyn deaconry, headed it. The liturgy was held with the blessing of the bishop of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Fedor of Poltava and Kremenchuk.

Father Mykola was co-officiated by:
 - Chaplain Father Serhii (Poltava Diocese)
 - Father Deacon Mykola (Poltava Diocese)
 - Father Ivan (Lubny district, Mhar village)
 - Father Volodymyr (Deacon of the Pyriatyn deaconry)
 - Father Viktor (Lubly district, Orzhytsia urban village)
 - Father Yaroslav (Pyriatyn district, Maliutyntsi village)

After the liturgy, the clergy addressed the believers with speeches about the importance of helping and supporting the Ukrainian army. They emphasized that victory over evil depends on each of us - both those who are at the front and those who help on the home front. Fathers urged everyone to pray for the health and protection of our defenders, as well as for the souls of those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Those who sacrificed themselves for our future were honored with a moment of silence.

Father Mykola also thanked those present for volunteering and presented certificates for supporting our army to local activists.

The temple holiday was crowned by lunch and communication with churchmen.
