Every year on November 9, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, which is the public holiday. This day the Orthodox Church commemorates the Saint Nestor the Chronicler, an hagiographer (hagiography is a genre of Christian literature that tells about the life of saints and ascetics), a founder of the ancient Russian historiography, the first historian of Kievan Rus, a thinker, scientist, a monk of the Monastery of the Caves in Kiev. Centuries ago this day kids started to attend school. The parents would go to church to light a candle in front of the saint’s icon as they believed that he would help their child with studies. Indeed, it is a great benefit from studies for those who study when young get reward when old.
It is very symbolic that the philanthropists chose this date to visit the first- and second-graders of the Tarasovsky educational complex in the Brovary Area of the Kyiv Region.
As part of the ‘Do Good’ Charity Project the representative of the Oganes Khidiryan’s Charitable Foundation David Avagyan presented sets of stationery and personal hygiene products to pupils and sets of cleaning products for the school.
The School Director Alekseenko Mariia thanked the philanthropists for their act of kindness and addressed to the pupils with the following words: Live in such a way that people next to you feel good and their souls chant only love.
