International Book Donation Day

February 14 is known worldwide not only as Valentine's Day, Clean Out Your Computer Day, but also as International Book Donation Day, which has been celebrated since 2012.

On the eve of this holiday, the book fund of the Poltava Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I.P. Kotliarevskyi was replenished with the scientific textbook "Architectural design and reconstruction of Orthodox churches", the author was the architect, doctor of architecture, professor Oleg Sleptsov. The publication was made possible with the financial support of the Charitable Foundation named after Ohanes Misakovych Khidirian.

The book is devoted to the technology of designing an Orthodox church: from history, tradition and canon to creative design and implementation. The author's experience in designing an Orthodox church is widely presented. It reflects the creative credo of the architect Oleg Sleptsov. The book reveals the nuances and peculiarities of this difficult type of design. It has become useful not only for students of architectural universities and students of religious educational institutions, but also for architects who want to devote themselves to the spiritual revival of Ukraine. The reason for such a heated discussion of the book is that the architect Oleg Sleptsov not only declares his creative and professional concepts, but also teaches the design of sacred buildings and structures based on his own rich experience, which is more than 70 designed and built churches and temple complexes.

The participation of the Charitable Foundation named after Ohanes Misakovych Khidirian in the publication of the textbook has the reason. This is due to the fact that one of the tasks of the charitable organization is the spiritual and moral education of children, students, support for individuals who contribute to the development of church construction, the reconstruction of historical and cultural monuments, as well as the effort to transfer their knowledge to the younger generation.

The founder of the Charitable Foundation named after Ohanes Misakovych Khidirian, Misak Khidiryan, is sure that such books as “Architectural Design and Reconstruction of Orthodox Churches” form love for the spirituality in the younger generation, help to understand sacred architecture in a better way. With the help of the Foundation, the book was transferred to many libraries in Ukraine, as well as to educational institutions of the architectural and construction profile in Ukraine.
